    Barb Michal, President

    Barbara is one of the founders of PAC and has served on the board since 1993. A lifelong resident of Rensselaer her interest has been promoting the Arts in the community. She served as Treasurer for 20+ years and is currently President.

  • Kelley Spurgeon

    Kelley Spurgeon, Vice President

    Kelley is one of the founding members of the PAC and has served on the board, committees, or a member since 1993. She has been the art teacher at Rensselaer Central High School since 1993. Her service includes the school shows, teaching workshops, and collaborating on several committees including gallery exhibitions.

  • Christine Bogan

    Christine Bogan, Secretary

    As a child, Christine had her first art lesson from her grandmother, who was an art and music teacher. Throughout school, she designed sets, sewed costumes, or performed for local theater productions. As a board member, she is enjoying being a part of bringing art events to the community.

  • Shelly Leach

    Shelly Leach, Treasurer

    Michelle is the Treasurer for Prairie Arts Council. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

    In her free time she enjoys watching professional and college sports and playing softball. She is an important volunteer for our annual Rock the Arts festival.

    Eleanor Black, Office Administrator

    Eleanor is a world traveler who has lived and worked all over the US, Australia and New Zealand. She brings experience and training from many industries to her work as the PAC Office Administrator.

    Claudia Pletting

    'I love the power of photography to create highly personal impressions.

    Wherever I am, I look around and try to find subjects which are, to me, interesting and/or beautiful. Different things at different times of the year. That is why I always have my camera with me, whether on my way to feed the birds, to walk to the mailbox, or to pick a green pepper from the garden. I want to be ready.'

  • Bonnie Zimmer

    Bonnie Zimmer

    Bonnie is one of the founders of PAC and has served on its board since 1993. A lifelong artist and art teacher, she retired in 2016 as Chair of the Art Department of St. Joseph’s College. Her PAC focus has been on visual arts programs, including coordinating ARTCAMP for 25 years. She currently serves as Exhibition Committee chair.

  • Judy Kanne

    Judy Kanne

    Judy has been on the PAC Board since she retired as a Visiting Professor in Education at Saint Joseph's College. She has served as past chair of the Exhibition Committee. She is a water color artist, Jasper County Historian, and one of the founders of the Jasper County Art League in 1972.

  • Jane Hullings

    Jane Hullings

    Jane is a retired Chicago banker, returned to her hometown. She dabbles in photography and enjoys taking art fieldtrips and workshops. Assisting however possible in all PAC activities and exhibits. An active community volunteer and PAC member for 27 years.

  • Susan Chattin

    Susan Chattin

    Susan taught at St. Joseph's College for 30 years. During that time, she taught Cultural History of Africa and India and served as the Director of the Intercultural Core Program for 25 years.

    She has traveled extensively throughout the world and collected traditional arts and artifacts during her travels.

  • Stephanie Thilges

    Stephanie Thilges

    Stephanie originally attended Iowa State University where she earned a BA Interior Design in 1981. In 1988 moved to Indiana. She owned & operated "Stephanie's Interiors" for 10 years in Rensselaer. In 2007 she earned an Art Education and Family Consumer Science teaching license from Purdue. She currently teaches Art and FACS at West Central in Francesville. She is the sponsor for Indiana Sunshine, FCCLA, and Yearbook at West Central.

  • Bill Oats

    Bill Oats

    Bill Oates, has a Master's degree from The University of Akron. He taught English, speech, drama and communications for 42 years, retiring from RCHS in 2016. He also taught journalism/digital media at St. Joseph's College. He joined the Prairie Arts Council board its first year and returned in 2020. He is currently the editor of a Laurel and Hardy magazine.

  • Michel Keck

    Michel was primarily raised in NWI. Michel is a free spirited, self-taught artist who works in a wide array of mediums; painting, collage, drawings and found object/assemblage art. Inspired by nature, scripture, and personal life experiences, her works have a raw and childlike quality that reward the focus of new as well as seasoned collectors. She has exhibited in London, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Indianapolis, High Point, Pittsburgh, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas and Hong Kong.
